Why to test BMP?
Basic Metabolic Panel test includes BUN/Creatinine Ratio (calculated), Calcium, Carbon Dioxide, Chloride, Creatinine with GFR Estimated, Glucose, Potassium, Sodium, Urea Nitrogen (BUN). Basic Metabolic Panel test looks at your blood`s electrolyte and fluid balance, your glucose levels, and your kidney’s overall function.
The BMP give key informations about fluid and electrolyte status, kidney function, blood sugar levels, and response to various other medical treatments. It is frequently used as a screening tool during a physical exam.
The seven parts of a BMP tests are:
sodium
potassium
chloride
bicarbonate or CO2
blood urea nitrogen (BUN)
creatinine
glucose
What to test?
A small amount of your blood from vein is needed to perform this panel of tests.
Reference range
