Description
Carbamazepine, Total - Carbamazepine is an anticonvulsant which is structurally related to the tricyclic antidepressants and is useful in treating patients with temporal lobe epilepsy. Carbamazepine levels are monitored to assure adequate therapeutic levels are achieved and to avoid toxicity.
It works by decreasing nerve impulses that cause seizures and nerve pain, such as trigeminal neuralgia and diabetic neuropathy.
