Description
Complement Component C3c and C4c - Decreased concentrations of both C3 and C4 suggest activation of the classical pathway, whereas decreased concentration of just C3 suggests activation of the alternative pathway. Both complement factors may be used to monitor activity of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and immune complex-induced vasculitis.
Complement C3 and C4 are the most commonly measured proteins that are part of immune system . Abnormal levels of C4 can be associated with autoimmune conditions like systemic lupus erythematosis (SLE), cryoglobulinemia, glomerulonephritis. When the immune system is activate with autoimmune diseases the complement system can be involved in the attack. This can cause the reduction in the levels of complement. Measuring of complements involved a simple blood test that measures the levels of C3 and C4 in the blood.
Immunoturbidimetric method is used.
