Description
Glucose, Fasting and Gestational, 135 Cutoff -
A value of 135 mg/dL or greater indicates the need for a full diagnostic, gestational glucose tolerance performed in the fasting state to determine if the patient has gestational diabetes.
The glucose tolerance test is a useful blood test in testing for diabetes risk and resistance to insulin in the body.
The glucose tolerance test can be used to screen for type 2 diabetes. More commonly, a improved version of the glucose tolerance test is used to diagnose gestational diabetes — a type of diabetes that develops during pregnancy.
Fasting required. Fasting is defined as no consumption of food or beverage other than water for at least 8 hours before testing.
