Description
An acute viral hepatitis panel is used to help detect and/or diagnose acute liver infection and inflammation that is due to one of the three most common hepatitis viruses: hepatitis A virus (HAV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), or hepatitis C virus (HCV). Viral hepatitis, including hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, are a group of distinct diseases that affect the liver. Each have different hepatitis symptoms and treatments. Some causes of hepatitis include recreational drugs and prescription medications. Laboratory tests can determine hepatitis types.
Hepatitis Panel, Acute with Reflex to Confirmation includes Hepatitis A IgM Antibody, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen with Reflex to Confirmation, Hepatitis B Core Antibody (IgM), Hepatitis C Antibody with Reflex to HCV, RNA, Quantitative, Real-Time PCR. Hepatitis A is a highly infectious liver disease that affects the function of the liver. Hepatitis A IgM Antibody test is used to detect the presence of IgM antibodies for the hepatitis A virus. This test helps diagnose acute hepatitis A and is also used for differential diagnosis of hepatitis. Hepatitis B virus is a circular, partially double-stranded DNA virus of the Hepadnaviridae family which is unrelated to the viruses causing Hepatitis A or Hepatitis C. Hepatitis B Surface Antigen with Reflex Confirmation test indicates chronic infection and is useful in the differential diagnosis of hepatitis. Serologic markers specific for the Hepatitis B virus are used to diagnose Hepatitis B virus infection.
The hepatitis B core antibody test, sometimes known as the anti-HBc test, hep B core IgM antibody test, and hepatitis B core antibody blood test, measures the hepatitis B core IgM antibody blood level. If you have Low-grade fever, Muscle and joint aches , Nausea and vomiting or Yellow skin and dark urine due to jaundice , we recommend that you seriously consider a Hepatitis B Core Antibody (IgM) test.
