Description
MMR (IgG) Panel (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - This panel provides presumptive evidence of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella for purposes of routine vaccination, for students at post-high school educational institutions, and for international travelers.
This panel test includes Includes Measles Antibody (IgG),Mumps Virus Antibody (IgG) and Rubella Immune Status.
Measles is caused by rubeola virus. It causes fever, irritability, respiratory illness, and the characteristic skin rash. Immunization has greatly diminished the incidence of measles. The immunity test confirms if any person is vaccinated against this virus. The presence of IgG is consistent with immunity or prior exposure.
Mumps is an acute, usually self-limited systemic illness characterized by parotiditis, high fever and fatigue. One third of infections are asymptomatic.Mumps is a contagious disease caused by a virus that passes from one person to another through saliva, nasal secretions, and close personal contact.
Rubella is an acute exanthematous viral infection of children and adults. Rash, fever and lymphadenopathy characterize the illness. This contagious viral infection can be prevented by vaccine and is known by its distinctive red rash.A rubella test detects and measures rubella antibodies in the blood that are produced by the body`s immune system in response to immunization or an infection by the rubella virus.
